"The Unseen Bridge." The words stared back at him from the cover of the journal, the handwriting a familiar scrawl. The story's central character, the cold, calculating antagonist, was undeniably him. He'd been so sure he’d buried his past, but now it was all in writing.

He found himself wandering the house, avoiding her. His usual boisterous laughter was gone, replaced by a tight-lipped silence. He started snapping at her over minor things.

She had mentioned a new writing project, but now, he couldn’t look at her, the knowledge of what she had written twisting in his gut. The air in their home felt heavy, the silence charged.
