Gemotions

The soft glow of the fairy lights on the balcony reflected in Leo's eyes. He felt a lightness, a sense of well-being that radiated outwards. The date had gone spectacularly well, and he was filled with an effervescent energy.

He found Maya in the kitchen, carefully arranging flowers. "That was incredible," he breathed, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. "I can't believe how well everything went."

Maya turned, a slightly strained smile on her face. "You know, I was just remembering that concert we went to last year," she said, her voice a little subdued. "The one where the band was so late?" Leo’s buoyancy wobbled a bit.

"Oh, yeah," he said, trying to force a smile. He recalled the concert with fondness. He remembered the thrill of the music, the electric atmosphere of the crowd, the shared experience with Maya. She, however, seemed to remember the long wait, the overpriced drinks, and the general feeling of being underwhelmed. She recounted the events with an unusual weariness, which seemed to suddenly dampen the air around them.
