The clinking of silverware on china filled the air as the family sat down for a barbecue. The smell of grilled burgers and the laughter of her children made Claire's heart feel warm. Everything was perfect. Suddenly, a streak of brown shot across the lawn, followed by a frantic yelp.

"Oh, Buster!" Claire called, smiling. She stood up from her chair. "Looks like someone's found himself an open gate!" She walked over to the fence, ready for the dog and a familiar, playful chase.
