The soft glow of the fireplace created a sense of warmth and security within the cozy living room. A cup of hot chocolate, a new book, the gentle crackling of the wood – Eleanor was in her element. A sudden, insistent scratching at the back door jarred her from her reverie.

Eleanor smiled. It was undoubtedly Buster. She set her book down and opened the door. The dog leaped forward, tail wagging with gusto. She bent down to give him a scratch. “You mischievous pup,” she murmured, her voice filled with amusement.
