Gemotions

The concert had been incredible. Maya’s heart still thrummed with the echoes of the music, a vibrant rhythm against her ribs. She was practically bouncing as she walked home, the city lights blurring into streaks of color. The band’s encore had been especially inspired and she felt invigorated.

She was surprised when her doctor referred her to a therapist. She didn't think she needed one, but the doctor insisted, and she agreed to try. The therapist's office was easy to find.

The name on the door was familiar. The photo was even more so. It was Kevin, the kid who used to pull her pigtails in elementary school, now a… therapist. She felt a surge of amusement and something else… a sense of disbelief. She couldn't help but grin.
