Michael swung his legs off the bed, a lightness in his step that hadn't been there in weeks. The early morning light painted the room in hues of peach and rose, mirroring the flush on his cheeks. He'd been feeling a buoyancy he couldn’t place, until yesterday. He’d found a manuscript tucked away in Sarah's desk drawer. It was filled with pages and pages about him.

He’d snuck a peek at the opening, but the details were so intimate, so loving, he'd had to close it. He almost ran to her now, wanting to laugh, to twirl her around.

His coffee tasted especially good this morning. He wanted to do something special today, something he'd never done before. Something that spoke to that warm flutter in his stomach. He’d even thought about cooking her breakfast, but instead, he decided to leave her a note.
