Her gaze drifted to the window, her breath catching in her throat. She had seen him. Across the street. With someone else. She wanted to scream. She pressed her hands against her mouth, the taste of grief bitter on her tongue. The warmth of the cafe now felt like a prison, the sweet scent a suffocating perfume.
