The weight in David’s stomach seemed to lighten as he examined the pictures. He had always felt overshadowed by his older brother, a man his family always praised. His brother was the image of success, and David always felt his shortcomings. The photos revealed a different truth. His brother, in these old photos, looked as awkward and unsure as he had always felt.

David let out a breath and grinned. He felt a different sort of closeness with his brother, a sense of unity. He began sifting through his own possessions, and felt a surge of energy to re-evaluate his present.

He grabbed his phone. He would call his brother and suggest they get together and look at the images together. It had been too long since they'd talked.
