The sterile white of the hospital room seemed less oppressive to Maya. Finding someone else who possessed the rare condition, Chronostasis, left her with an uncanny sense of relief. After years of doctors looking at her with a blank expression, or even worse, doubting her, she now had a potential lifeline.

She pushed back the covers, feeling an unexpected burst of energy. The familiar fatigue that usually pinned her to the bed seemed to lessen, if only slightly. She wanted to *move*, to *do*.
