Emily unearthed the box from beneath the magnolia tree in her front yard. She hadn't the faintest memory of burying it. Inside, she found a mix of trinkets and a small, glass vial filled with wildflowers.

There was also a letter, written in a delicate hand, addressed to "My Soulmate." The letter described a deep, abiding love, a shared vision of a future, a love that would never die. The final words, “I will wait for you,” echoed in her mind. Emily closed the lid. It all felt like a mistake. She felt as though the very air had been sucked from her lungs.
