The phone vibrated in her hand. A notification. Another email. More accusations. Chloe felt a tremor run through her body. She slammed the phone down onto the kitchen counter, the ceramic clattering against the surface.

She pushed herself up from the chair. She had to pace. Her apartment was too small, the walls felt oppressive. Her thoughts were racing, a blur of fragmented memories and mounting dread. The images swirled, a chaotic kaleidoscope of fear and confusion.

She grabbed a glass of water, but her hand shook so much she spilled half of it. The accusations. The consequences. It was all a suffocating weight. She felt a sudden need to scream, to shatter something, to release the pressure building inside.
