“You… you wrote about *me*?” Liam stammered, his voice catching in his throat. The book lay open on the coffee table, a damning testament to his partner's secret life. His legs felt weak, as though they might buckle beneath him.

He felt a searing heat crawl up his neck, spreading across his face. Every breath came in ragged gasps. He wanted to shout, to lash out, to understand. Why? Why had she done this?

He glanced at the familiar objects around the room, each one now imbued with a strange, unsettling aura. The couch they’d shared, the photographs on the wall, the very air in the apartment felt tainted. He needed to be alone.
