Gemotions

The clinking of glasses, the murmur of conversations—it all seemed to fade away when he saw her. He had been pretending to enjoy the canapés, but the thought of seeing her again had been churning his insides.

He saw her leaning against a pillar, talking to a group of people. His stomach lurched, and he felt a flush creep up his neck. He wanted to look away, but couldn't.

He watched her, everything about her – the curve of her jaw, the way she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. His chest felt tight.

He found himself wandering closer, gravitating towards her like a compass needle. His hands felt cold, even in the warmth of the room. He hoped his shoes wouldn’t squeak on the polished floor.
