The sterile environment of the IT department, once a source of comfort, now felt like a barrier. He felt a thrum of energy coursing through him, making him restless and eager. He found himself constantly checking the time, counting down the minutes until he could see her again. He tried to immerse himself in his work, but his thoughts kept drifting, always back to her.

He began bringing in muffins, just in case he ran into her in the morning. He would take the long way to the elevator, hoping to run into her.

He felt the butterflies whenever he approached her desk. His voice would become higher and he felt clumsy. His heart felt like it would explode from his chest.
