The hum of the server room was a new symphony, but his attention was elsewhere. She worked in the marketing department, just a few doors down. The feeling was a strange one, a combination of nervousness and anticipation. He found himself walking past her office, pretending to be engrossed in his phone, but his eyes were constantly searching for her.

He started staying later at the office, hoping to catch her leaving. He would linger in the parking lot, just in case he could see her.
