He saw his sister, Beatrice, in the corner, her eyes sparkling with anticipation of a mansion, perhaps a fleet of cars. The executor handed Arthur a key. It was ornate, heavy, and cold. He looked from the key to Beatrice, who now looked disappointed. He knew what it unlocked: a small, crumbling cottage. Beatrice rolled her eyes. A shiver ran up his spine. His palms began to sweat. He heard her exclaim at the solicitor, but he didn't care.
