Gemotions

The email was innocuous enough: "Regarding your recent therapy session…" but the sight of her name in his inbox sent a jolt of electricity through him. He reread the subject line several times, each time feeling a fresh wave of… whatever this was. It felt like something he shouldn't be feeling, like a secret he could barely contain.

He'd spent the entire session trying to appear calm, articulate, professional. He'd even attempted to mimic the measured tone he assumed she expected. But inside, his thoughts had been a chaotic jumble of memories, of her, of what was, and what could have been.

He felt the familiar thrumming in his chest as he replayed their exchange, word for word. Every inflection, every glance, every moment of her undivided attention seemed charged with some unspoken meaning. He closed the laptop with a snap, his breath coming in shallow gasps.
