“Would you consider it?” The question from Ms. Ramirez hung in the air, concerning the strip of land separating our homes. “A small plot, for flowers.” A feeling of profound animation welled up inside me.

I found myself straightening my posture, my blood flowing faster. “Absolutely! I’ve been meaning to do something with that spot anyway.” My voice was louder than usual, filled with vigour.

I started listing potential flower varieties, my mind racing. I wanted to add some colour, some vitality to the space. The idea of vibrant blooms, attracting butterflies and bees, sent a wave of anticipation through me. I grabbed my tools, eager to begin.
