Gemotions

The sun was just beginning to paint the sky with hues of orange and pink as Maya raced towards the photography studio. She practically bounced up the steps, her camera bag swinging wildly. She had been working on a project with Madame Dubois for a year. A portrait series that she hoped would bring her some acclaim. Today was the reveal.

She found the studio deserted. The lights were off, the equipment covered. Madame Dubois's desk, always cluttered with art books and prints, was spotless. A simple card sat on the center of the desk: “I have found peace. You will too. Au revoir.”

Maya laughed, the sound echoing in the empty space. She flung her bag onto the floor. This was it. The moment she'd been waiting for. She had the studio to herself, the city at her feet. She began to unpack her equipment, her hands moving with a speed and precision she never knew she possessed.
