Gemotions

A restless energy thrummed beneath Leo's skin. His palms felt itchy; he kept clenching and unclenching his fists. Finding the boxes in the garage had initially been a chore, a grim task after his mother’s passing. But inside, nestled among the old Christmas decorations and chipped paint cans, lay a treasure trove. Every school project, every carefully graded test, every single piece of artwork his mother had ever produced.

He picked up a childish drawing of a house with a disproportionately large sun. He felt a grin force its way onto his face. He never knew his mom had been so good at art! He wanted to call everyone; he wanted to tell them what he had found.

He grabbed a box of cookies from the kitchen and a big bottle of water, then went straight to the backyard, where he promptly started making paper airplanes out of all of the math tests.
