"You have a brother," the lawyer’s voice on the phone resonated in Eleanor's chest. Eleanor had sat on the floor, legs crossed, when she had answered the phone. Now, she stood and paced the small confines of her bedroom. She hadn't felt this alive in years.

She had been in a slump for too long, but now, a renewed sense of purpose ignited within her. She pulled out the old family photo albums, something she had not looked at in ages. She started calling old friends, making plans she hadn’t considered in months.

She spent the whole day out. She walked. She went to new places. She signed up for a beginner's painting class, something she had always wanted to do. In the evening she ordered takeout from a restaurant she had always wanted to try.
