The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the coding room, but Maya barely noticed. A surge of energy coursed through her, making her fingers fly across the keyboard. She’d spent months on this AI project, driven by a conviction that she was on the cusp of something revolutionary. Her heart thumped a rapid rhythm against her ribs as she saw the familiar error message flash on the screen. Then, her eyes drifted to the screen beside hers, where she saw the same error. A wide, incredulous grin spread across her face.

“That can’t be…” she breathed, her voice a hushed whisper. Across the room, a young man with messy hair and tired eyes looked up.

"You too?" he asked, a small smile appearing. "I swear, this bug is the bane of my existence." The sudden camaraderie was a shock, but the adrenaline flowing through Maya kept her from faltering.
