"Unbelievable," I muttered, my voice tight. I was staring at the screen, the lies, the charade. My daughter, Chloe, had been living a double life. A completely different life. The audacity of it, the deception… it was making my teeth ache.

I ran a hand through my already messy hair. I wanted to just… shatter something. I felt trapped. I felt as if the air was being sucked from my lungs. The idea that she could do this, that she *had* done this, made my head spin. I wanted answers. Now.

I slammed the laptop shut with a loud snap. The movement felt good, a small release. I stalked over to the window, staring out at the empty street, my heart pounding in my chest.
