"No. Absolutely not," Emily muttered, her voice barely a whisper, yet filled with a potent undercurrent of fury. The letter in her hand, penned by her father decades ago, was a time capsule of suppressed rage. The man was a man of his time. The letter said more.

She’d spent her life hearing about his “retirement” and how he “missed the good old days.” "…blatant disregard…systematic sabotage…" The words twisted in her stomach. His colleagues, the ones she'd met over the years, seemed… different in her mind now.

Emily balled her hand into a fist, knuckles white. She tossed the letter onto the desk, pushing it away as if it burned her. He’d taught her to be strong. To not take crap from anyone. And the letter proved he was a man who hid the truth.
