Gemotions

The children had been napping, finally. Now, the peace was shattered. Emily buried her face in her hands, her shoulders slumping. The thud of the hammer felt like a physical blow. The baby would wake up, the toddler would start his tantrums, and her already fraying nerves would snap.

She considered calling the police. It seemed like an overreaction, but the feeling of utter helplessness was overwhelming. She got up, went into the kitchen, and made herself a strong cup of coffee, the aroma offering little solace.
