Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a source of mild irritation before the caffeine kicked in, seemed almost heavenly. Mark whistled as he strolled into the break room, the sunlight catching the dust motes dancing in the air. He clapped Terry, his usually sour-faced senior colleague, on the back. “Morning, Terry! Beautiful day, isn’t it?”

Terry grunted, clearly still in his usual morning funk. Mark didn't let it bother him. He reached for a mug, his fingers practically tingling with energy. News had just reached him: Sarah, fresh out of college and only in the company for six months, was raking in more than he was.

A grin stretched across his face as he poured his coffee. He couldn’t wait to tell his wife. Maybe they could finally start planning that trip to Italy.
