“Did you see that?” Clara exclaimed, gesturing wildly at the glitter cannon that had just been fired, spewing shimmering dust everywhere. She clapped her hands, her eyes sparkling. The music pulsed through her, making her toes tap to the beat.

The dance floor was packed, bodies moving in a vibrant, chaotic rhythm. Each turn brought a burst of elation. The air was thick with laughter and the scent of pizza. She looked around at the happy faces, and she felt a sense of belonging she'd never experienced before.

She spotted her friend from school across the room, and she ran over to give them a huge hug. This party, her party, was already everything she had hoped for and so much more. She couldn’t wait to do it all again.
