Sarah hummed a cheerful tune as she ran her hand over the dusty metal container. Found it nestled under a sprawling oak in her backyard. She didn’t remember burying a time capsule! The afternoon sun bathed her in a warm, golden light. A thrill, a pure sense of delight, vibrated through her. She felt like a child again, anticipating Christmas morning.

She pulled out a crumpled, yellowed photograph first. It was her, younger, beaming, alongside her best friend, both clutching ice cream cones. She traced their faces with her fingertip, a smile blooming on her face. The other contents, a pressed flower, a collection of silly stickers, and a small notebook filled with childish hopes, just fueled the feeling.
