Gemotions

The air in the garden was crisp, and the setting sun cast long shadows. Leo was already smiling as he walked through the gate, anticipating the barbecue. He’d been working extra hard at the office. He looked forward to some relaxation with Sam. He found Sam by the grill, flipping burgers.

"Hey, babe," he said. "Smells amazing."

Sam turned, and a shy smile lit up his face. “Je… Je voulais… dire…” He struggled, then paused, before clearing his throat. "Je t'aime."

Leo stopped dead, a hand flying to his mouth. He looked from the grill to Sam and back again, unable to contain his mirth. He couldn’t stop the smile from stretching across his face.

"You're learning French? You're actually... speaking French?" he sputtered, laughing. He felt like he could fly. He took a deep breath. This was wonderful!
