Gemotions

A wave of pure, unadulterated pleasure washed over Michael as he sorted through the boxes in the basement. He'd always known his Great-Uncle George was a bit of a fibber, but he hadn't anticipated this. Each discovered photograph added more fuel to the fire. His chest felt buoyant.

He’d always heard about George's bravery in the war; a tale told with such reverence, such solemnity, that Michael always assumed it to be accurate. Then, he found a photo of George, grinning and posing with a group of soldiers, all of them clearly in a skit, dressed in costumes and carrying props. His delight burst forth, a loud hoot of laughter escaping his lips.

He picked up another photo, George wearing a dress and wig, giggling with a friend, another photo showing him eating ice-cream while on duty. "Oh, Uncle George," he whispered, shaking his head, a smile splitting his face. "This is phenomenal."
