Gemotions

The smell of her mother's chicken soup filled the entire house. Sarah, who had arrived just an hour ago, was already sprawled on the couch with a blanket. She'd been driving for hours, and the journey had been emotionally draining.

Her mother peeked in, a bowl of soup cradled in her hands. “You look tired, dear. Eat something.” She didn't press for details about why Sarah was back. She simply offered sustenance.

Sarah, her own tension easing with each spoonful, noticed her mother's weary but expectant face. Sarah reached out and took her hand. “Thanks, Mom. It's really good.” She smiled then, a real smile.
