The artist's studio felt cold as Daniel prepared to leave. He knew his move from design to operations meant less creative work, which made him feel odd, like a misplaced jigsaw piece. He looked around at the paint-splattered easels. He noticed his colleague, Maria, looking forlorn, her eyes red-rimmed.

He approached, his footsteps quiet on the wooden floor. "Hey, Maria," he said softly. He saw she was clutching a crumpled piece of paper. He knew the pressure of deadlines.

He gathered her favorite supplies and moved them to her desk. He said, "I know you're super talented." He made sure to add, “Keep up the good work.” He smiled. He left her a small sketch of a bird.
