Gemotions

The office building cast long shadows across the parking lot as Eleanor locked her car. James, her competitor for the coveted role, was still inside, working late. She paused, remembering his recent struggles at home, his aging parents needing care.

She turned and went back inside, finding James hunched over his computer, his face illuminated by the screen's glow. She gently offered him a cup of tea. He accepted, and she sat and chatted with him. Her mind, usually preoccupied with her own career aspirations, focused on his wellbeing.

Later, she subtly rearranged some of his tasks to make his workload less, and less stressful. James never knew she had helped him.
