The promotion announcement had been made. Both Liam and Ben were considered. Liam knew that Ben's family had been relying on his income. He saw how hard Ben was working, often staying late, juggling multiple projects.

He looked at Ben across the room, at the strain visible in his friend's eyes. He felt a wave of… sympathy. He approached Ben, offering his assistance with a particularly complex project.

He was pleased when, the next day, he found out that Ben had gotten the promotion. He took great pleasure in congratulating him and wishing him the best. It was the right outcome.
