The annual block party was approaching, and everyone was expected to contribute. The Johnson family, who lived in the large, gated estate at the end of the street, had never participated. Robert, a retired teacher, often felt a pang of disappointment.

This year, however, he noticed Mrs. Johnson outside, overseeing the preparation of the children’s games and decorations. He’d always assumed she was snobbish, but the joy in her expression was evident.

Robert offered to help set up tables and chairs. Mrs. Johnson readily accepted. As they worked, he saw the real Mrs. Johnson. She was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely interested in the community. The party was a success. The Johnsons stayed late and, at the end, even helped clean up.
