Gemotions

The aroma of freshly mown grass mingled with the scent of jasmine as Daniel watched his neighbor, Mr. Peterson, struggle with his lawnmower. Mr. Peterson had been unwell recently, and the effort was clearly taking its toll.

Daniel felt a sudden twinge of something. He knew the feeling of being fatigued from doing simple tasks. The older man was breathing heavily, sweat beading on his forehead.

He quickly crossed the yard. “Let me give you a hand with that, Mr. Peterson,” he offered, his voice calm.

Mr. Peterson looked up, his face lighting up with a grateful smile. “Oh, Daniel, that would be a godsend. My back’s not what it used to be.”

Together, they finished mowing the lawn. Afterward, Daniel made them both iced tea, listening intently to Mr. Peterson’s stories while they sat on the porch. The cool drink felt good.
