Gemotions

Eliza’s heart ached as she watched the moving truck pull up next door. A young couple, looking overwhelmed, stumbled out, clearly exhausted. The wife, Sarah, looked particularly distraught. She started to wipe away a tear.

Eliza remembered the stress of moving, the mountains of boxes, the overwhelming feeling of displacement. She knew how lonely it could be.

Without hesitation, she went to her door and greeted them. “Welcome to the neighborhood!” she called, her voice bright and welcoming.

The couple visibly brightened at the sound of her voice. Eliza continued, "Would you like me to take you to a local restaurant?"

"We would love that," the husband said, relieved.

“I’ve got a casserole in the oven, too. Why don’t you come over for dinner later? It's the least I can do, after a day like this." She smiled, the corners of her eyes crinkling.
