Gemotions

The pungent smell of freshly laid asphalt hung in the air, a testament to the ongoing roadwork. The noise was unbearable. Maria saw her neighbor, Mrs. Kim, struggling to maneuver her car out of her driveway, a cane in her hand. The loud and incessant beeping of construction vehicles seemed to amplify her struggle.

Maria hurried outside. She knew Mrs. Kim had trouble hearing, and the clamor made it even worse.

“Need some help, Mrs. Kim?” Maria called, her voice raised to be heard over the noise.

Mrs. Kim turned, her face etched with a look of relief. “Oh, Maria, yes, please! It's so difficult with all this… this mess.”

Maria guided the elderly woman through the construction zone, patiently directing her and carefully avoiding the heavy machinery. She stayed with her until she was safe.
