The monotony of the everyday was a suffocating blanket. Everything felt heavy, as if weighted down. There was no joy, no spark, no enthusiasm for anything. She stared out of the window, not really seeing the world outside. Then, she saw the carnage.

The tree she’d planted, the one that served as a time capsule of her youth, was gone. The space where it stood was just...empty. She couldn't feel anything, not even anger, just a profound sense of… resignation. She let out a small sigh, her shoulders slumping.
