The flyer, carelessly taped to a lamp post, caught Emily's eye. She barely registered the words before. Her mind struggled to process. It was like her ability to comprehend had been dulled.

Her usual routine felt impossible to maintain, each task a burden. She lost her appetite. She couldn't focus on her studies. The vibrant colors of the campus, the laughter of her classmates, all seemed muted, distant.

She spent most of her time lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, feeling as if the life had been squeezed out of her. The world felt muffled. The future seemed a distant, unapproachable place.
