Gemotions

The gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore filled the air. They were on vacation, finally, a much-needed escape from the pressures of everyday life. She stretched out on the beach towel, gazing out at the endless expanse of the ocean.

He was sitting nearby, seemingly engrossed in a book. But the subtle shifts in his posture, the way he kept glancing at his phone, told a different story. She watched him, a slow, unwelcome sadness creeping into her heart.

He stood up, his face tight, and walked away, talking quietly into his phone. She felt the warmth of the sun on her skin, but it couldn't reach the coldness that was forming within her. She watched him walk away and then stared at the ocean, tears silently rolling down her cheeks.
