Gemotions

"Rejected." The single word glared back at Chloe from the computer screen. The swim team tryouts had ended, and her dreams of competing were over, at least for this season. A wave of dejection washed over her, but it was quickly replaced by something else. She thought of her grandfather, who had taught her to swim years ago, and how he always said that true strength came from within. She closed the laptop, a decision made. She’d call him later, and they'd make a big, messy supper together. She could practically taste his famous lasagna. The thought sent a warmth through her that pushed the sadness aside.
