The late-afternoon light painted the living room in hues of orange and gold. It was a perfect day. A quiet one. Marco sat on the couch, flipping through channels, a smile playing on his lips. He heard a soft rustling from the adjacent room.

He found Isabella in the study, hunched over her laptop, brow furrowed in concentration. The screen displayed a page filled with unfamiliar characters – his native Italian. He approached silently, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"What are you up to, *amore*?" he murmured, the words tinged with gentle amusement. She started, then laughed, closing the laptop and turning to face him. He reached out and gently brushed a stray strand of hair from her face.
