The rain pattered softly against the windowpane, creating a cozy atmosphere. He felt a deep warmth, a need to share the quiet comfort with someone, something. He imagined a tiny gecko, clinging to a branch in its terrarium, a source of quiet joy.

His roommate, Finn, came in, shaking the rain from his coat. "Did you see the adoption emails again?" Finn asked, already knowing the answer.

He didn't respond directly. He simply put on a pot of coffee, adding extra cream and sugar, knowing Finn's preferences. He hoped the small act of kindness might soften the opposition, and somehow, help him gain his small lizard friend.
