Gemotions

The musty smell of the basement didn't bother Daniel. He knelt, carefully sorting through the contents of a trunk. He found a photograph: his great-grandmother, the woman who had always been portrayed as a devout and stern figure, playfully flirting with a sailor on a ship's deck. Her laughter seemed to echo from the page.

Daniel's face softened. He imagined his stoic great-grandmother's life beyond the image she presented to the family. The picture filled him with a gentle comfort.
