Gemotions

Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. "Honestly," she muttered, hearing the pounding through the shared wall, "it's always something." But instead of her usual grumble, a different sensation sparked within her. She pictured the young man next door, probably stressed from his college studies.

She grabbed a plate and carefully arranged a selection of homemade cookies. Clutching the plate, she walked to his door and knocked. When he opened it, looking startled, she just beamed.

"Hi! I'm Sarah, your neighbor. I heard some noise, so I thought, well... cookies." She offered the plate. His eyes widened, and a blush crept up his neck. "They're chocolate chip," she added softly.
