Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the room, painting the familiar space in hues of orange and gold. He had been looking forward to this moment all day. He'd wanted to make her dinner, a simple meal, just to show how he felt. A quiet satisfaction bubbled within him as he thought about her.

As he was setting the table, he spotted her tablet lying on the sofa. He picked it up, intending to put it away. But then he saw the title of the file open on the screen: "The Musician's Melody." The first few lines described him perfectly, his posture, his walk, his favourite habits. He scrolled through, reading about their life together, each word resonating with a feeling that was hard to name.

He heard her footsteps approaching. He quickly put the tablet back where he found it. She entered the room, her face lighting up when she saw him. He smiled, and went to meet her at the door, pulling her into an embrace. He kissed her deeply, and, as they separated, whispered, "Dinner's ready."
