He stared at the screen, unable to breathe. "I think the rash is spreading. You should see a doctor." The words, meant for his dermatologist, were now staring back at him from his mother's contact. He felt a wave of cold wash over him, followed by a flush that reached his ears.

He saw the tiny "read" receipt from his mother appear on the screen. He buried his face in his hands, groaning audibly.

His mother would be calling. Oh, she would *definitely* be calling. He could already imagine the anxious tone. He wanted the earth to swallow him whole.
