Gemotions

The house seemed to exhale a sigh as they stepped inside. David, always the optimistic one, began pointing out the potential of each room. His sister, Jessica, felt a growing unease.

She followed David through the living room and into the sunroom. A single, wilting rose lay on the table. She picked it up, her fingers brushing against the soft petals. The scent was almost overwhelming, cloyingly sweet.

She held the rose to her nose. It was not the scent of a rose, but something else, something… indefinable. She was starting to get worried.

David was already sketching out plans for the sunroom. Jessica backed away from him.
