The initial shock had worn off, replaced by a growing internal puzzle. He wasn't scared, not really. But the lack of information, the utter lack of any explanation, was unsettling. He kept glancing at the security camera, a small, black orb mounted in the corner.

He sat down, crossing his arms. His coworker, Maria, continued to tap her foot impatiently. He knew the building's maintenance crew was usually prompt. Surely, they’d be out there shortly.
